Planet Gifting is popular in multiplayer games to quickly put up double starbases for defence but also to optimize different traits and technologies in special "Master/Slave" team games.

Would be cool if we could have
- a game setting to ban planet gifting

That way it can be optional if people want to play with transfering people/planets back and forth for optimal output

Thanks!
Seconded.
Thirded.
If is enabled, you have to do it to optimize, but it's such a hassle. Would be nice to be able to not allow it, saving both sides the hassle. Also this force the teams to plan ahead if they want to share a system.

I am not against planet gifting, just good to have the option.
You could turn on Team Strict mode. Granted, you will lose a few other things, but would be interesting none-the-less.
Fourthed... If that is even a word?
It might be a useful option, BUT, I'd much rather prefer the pop vs global trait issue thread be addresses as that's what causes some of the trouble with gifting.
That'd be the best solution but might be too troublesome for Rocco to code given that he's busy with SO2 now.
Be interesting to think about Team Strict.

Gifting planets has other quirks outside of creating Master/Slave relationships. Should you really be able to scrap 3000 industry on a secondary planet, gift it, and have the other player throw up a starbase 3 in 3 turns? Or have the science nerd hoard industry on a planet, gift it to a industry partner, have them build the colony ships, then gift back so that the colony ships come from the industry race (even though the entire population that created the colony ship was all science types)?

What exactly does Team Strict limit you to?

If I recall correctly, it removes all treaty changes, all demands, and all gifting. So the biggest difference at the moment would be the loss of sharing of tech.

Well, yes, you should be able to. If you hoarded up 3,000 production and did not gift it, you could build SB, right? So, why shouldn't you be able to? Why would hoarded industry not still be hoarded when the government shifts?
