SO Wiki

RE: SO Wiki
Working on the Captain Jack Gentry page. The Stellar Burst Cannon appears to be dishing out 157 points with no variation for range with a 275% modifier against shields, armor and structure. Is that about right, or could I get the exact numbers for the wiki?

Game Center ID = User ID

RE: SO Wiki
Hey just started checking out the wiki and I can see it's getting hit pretty hard by vandalism. Maybe edits by non-logged in users should be disabled? Or maybe give permissions to ban IPs?

Thanks; I'm pretty new to mediawiki admin. If you have links/info on where I can go to disable non-logged in user edits, then I'll go do it.

RE: SO Wiki
This is the first thing I found. http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Preventing_access Looks fairly useful.

RE: SO Wiki
Soooo ... I'm willing (and interested) in helping develop the wiki a bit more. There is a lot of awesome (and detailed) information that is scattered around the forums pertaining to all aspects of SO, and it would be great to that migrated to the wiki as a common reference point.

Also - SO can be daunting for players unfamilar with 4X style games, and the Wiki could be a good portal to get players up to speed.

So, here's MY request - I'll work on adding/converting content to the wiki, but I need YOUR HELP in providing links to forum posts with noteworthy content and material. In otherwords, help me, help you Wink

RE: SO Wiki
My computer won't let me onto the wiki, but I would like to create a 'Racial Traits' page:

On default settings there are a total of 10 points to spend on traits
a minus means the trait is a penalty and allows for points to be spent elsewhere.

Inadequate Farmers -3
-1/2 food produced per farmer

Proficient Farmers 3
+1 food produced per farmer

Plant Whisperers 6
+2 food produced per farmer

Slow as Sloths -3
-1 industry produced per worker

Industrious Individuals 3
+1 industry produced per worker

Amazing Industrialists 6
+2 industry produced per worker

Slow Thinkers -3
-1/2 research produced per scientist

Quick Thinkers 3
+1 research produced per scientist

Borderline Genius 6
+3 research produced per scientist

Thrift Spenders -3
-1/2 credits per population (spies and marines do not count as
population)

Prosperous Businessmen 3
+1/2 credits per population (spies and marines do not count as
population)

Money Lenders 6
+1 credits per population (spies and marines do not count as
population)

Old Fashioned -3
-50% rate of population growth

Fertile Biology 3
+50% rate of population growth

Baby Boomers 6
+100% rate of population growth

Low Gravity Affinity -4
No penalty for low gravity (lower quality) planets. Penalty to
all production (food, industry, and research) on normal and
high gravity planets.

High Gravity Affinity 1
No penalty for high gravity (better quality) planets. Penalty to
all production (food, industry, and research) on normal and
low gravity planets.

Huge Homeworld 1
Start on a huge homeworld instead of a large homeworld.

Medium Homeworld -2
Start on a medium homeworld instead of a large homeworld.

Rich Homeworld 2
Start on a mineral rich homeworld instead of a mineral
abundant homeworld.

Poor Homeworld -2
Start on a mineral poor homeworld instead of a mineral
abundant homeworld.

Galactic Navigators 1
Allows for travel between planets faster and travel further away
from the nearest colony.

Combat Pilots 2
All ships can travel faster and make tighter turns in battle.

Tolerant 1
Can produce 1 food per farmer on toxic and radiated planets
instead of being unable to farm. Penalties to maintenance costs
for buildings on these planets are not as harsh as they would be
otherwise (has no change in penalty to maintenance costs for
desert planets).

Freethinking 3
+10% bonus to morale (boosts industry, food, and research
production)

Brilliant Researchers 6
Whenever a new technology is researched, one random extra
technology is also researched within the same category
(military, civil, or astrophysics).

Broad Field Experimentalists 1
Gives more options to choose from at a time. Allows players to
reach high levels of technology faster but causes players to miss
skip early technology until much later.

Highly Focused Scientists 1
Gives less options to choose from at a time. Players take longer
to reach high levels of technology, but they do not have to pass
up as much early technology.

Battle Hardened 1
Raises the amount of command points and boosts all ships'
armor and structure 20%.

Shared Intelligence 4
High populations receive bonuses to all production (industry,
food, and research). Low populations receive penalties to all
production (industry, food, and research).

Persnickety 2
-5% to morale (5% penalty to industry, farming, and research),
-10% to farming production, +20% to industry production,
+20% to research production

Charismatic 2
Lowers the cost of producing spies while making offensive spies
20% more effective. Leaders are cheaper to recruit and cost
less to maintain.

Repulsive -2
Raises the cost of producing spies while making offensive spies
20% less effective. (If there is a change in the cost of recruiting
and maintaining leaders, it's not mentioned in the description).

Fantastic Engineers 2
Allows ships to slowly repair themselves both in and out of
combat.

Highly Trained Smugglers 3
Colonies cannot be blockaded by fleets smaller than 4 ships.
Their fleets are harder to detect and their contact rating is
increased (allowing spies to more easily travel to other
empires).

Sanctioned Piracy 2
Trade and research pacts are stolen from other empires.
Marines can steal technology from colonies when they are
conquered and ships cost 10% less. Morale (affects farming,
industry, and research) decreases 5%

RE: SO Wiki
Note: While searching for maintenance costs found bot pages on wiki. Search for "maintenance" or "buy" to find some on wiki.

P.S. Could you add maintenance penalties to main planet page vice just individual planet pages? Sounds stupid but took a while to find it how it is now. EDIT:Or add sub drop down with each planet type to main menu list of links... Currently only way I see to navigate to each planet page (which is only written account of maintenance penalties in forums or wiki I can find) is to search for that planet name. Ie: 'Toxic'. And Ty Roc for pointing out that info is in help file of game itself.
