I'm not sure what it would add really. As someone pointed out frigates are basicly fighters in this...

however I have nothing against fighters being added Big Grin

RE: Feature request - fighter bays
They should be able to be equiped as a weapon on all destroyer+ ships. There would be 3 types of bays: fighter, bomber and heavy bomber ( fighter is good vs frigate and destroyer & other strike crafts and bomber being good vs cruiser and battleship, heavy bomber costs 1.5 times more than normal bombers, good vs titans and mammoths, maybe 1 squadron could orbital bomb once per turn)

Each bay could hold 1 squadron of strike crafts, and during combat the crafts must be launched from the ship first (except in command menu, cuz well, you have to command it). With the new escort systems the fighters can be commanded to escort bombers or mothership.

Starbases 1, 2, & 3 will have 4/8/12 fighter bays, 2/4/6 bomber bays and 0/2/4 heavy bomber bays

Reason why fighter bays SHOULD NOT be a system: mammoth with 12 plasma turrets and 12 fighter bays, seriously ...

I think you have got it, I think that that would be an epic addition to the game. Perhaps Fighter Bays should be a system, but with a maximum limit per ship (say 3).

Well, my thought was that if a frigate costs 200 production units to build and a fighter bay costs 200 and gives you five or six fighters then you come out positive.

I think you have got it, I think that that would be an epic addition to the game. Perhaps Fighter Bays should be a system, but with a maximum limit per ship (say 3).

But if the fighter bay is a weapon, it can have max I think 13 or 14 with mammoth+w-overhaul. Then it is possible to create a fleet carrier.

I'm not saying a frigate would have fighter bays. But let's say your building a Titan or massive hull and you added fighter bays. Then the production cost would be advantageous because you are not using command points for the frigates you would have to produce, a production slot for the frigate, and for the same cost as a frigate you get 4 - 6 fighters

But at the same time the whatever ship you are building would lose it's weapons. So basiclly you are giving up weapon slots of the host ship for strike crafts and extra command points.

But then again we can just tweak the cost and power of the strike crafts.
